Strongly depends on the load that you give. There is a certain concentration of decomposition products during glycolysis, which inhibits brain activity. It is very easy to check: when running on an easy one, you can count in your head (multiply, divide, derivatives, integrals), but if you are tired, then counting on the go will be, if feasible, then a very difficult task. It's the same with books!

I walk (15 + km, 6-7 km / h). If for some reason, during the distance, my phone or stereo headset sits down and I cannot listen to the book, I will be very broken. Everything is assimilated perfectly, you do not notice how 2-3 hours pass on the route, you come to your senses when you come to the house. True, I can listen to audiobooks in general anywhere and in any situation, which is what I save myself. Not all people are capable of listening to a book at all. When I opened audiobooks for myself, I tried to agitate many for them, seeing solid pluses, but 90% of people then told me that they tried, but caught themselves on the fact that for half an hour and no longer heard what the reader is telling your thoughts. If you do not belong to such people, I think that listening can be easily combined with running, as I have with walking.

Music often sets the pace for running. You can't do that with an audiobook. Moreover, your body strains while running, so your brain will not be able to assimilate the material.

Of course, it will get worse. In general, in an audiobook it is difficult to rewind every time if you do not understand or catch something. And besides, the brain prefers to concentrate on any one activity. So you have to choose one thing. Chasing two hares, you won't catch a single one.
