Many people usually take a long time with their first tattoo.

For example, I had a finished sketch for 3-4 years before I went and got a tattoo. Something was stopping all the time.

But after the first one I made another 3 within six months. You just already know what to expect. And the sensations are quite pleasant.

In general, according to scientific data, people do not get a second tattoo very often. Why can they do the second, third, fourth, and so much that looks like a dependency:

  1. An internal barrier has been overcome. The first time I stepped over the "I will / I will not", "it is possible / impossible", the second time it is easier to make a tattoo. Moreover, there is experience that it is definitely tolerable that healing occurs.
  2. Reaction of the environment. If the environment supports the tattoos, expresses admiration for them, why not continue? With a certain disposition of character, the feedback does not have to be positive - a bright enough reaction and the attention received.
  3. Aesthetics. Sometimes people find it beautiful. You can slowly make yourself prettier and prettier. True, the question here is why your own body without a tattoo does not seem beautiful enough to leave everything as it is.
  4. Protest. This is becoming less and less, as tattoos are becoming less and less a sign of counterculture and counter-everything. But still, a protest against what you don't like, ordinary, familiar, limiting, etc.
  5. Take your place in a particular culture. For example, biker tattoos, traditional major tattoos, etc.
  6. Symbolization of experience. Sometimes the tattoo becomes a form of symbolic reliving of experience. It can be as simple as a reminder of your own victories and achievements. So it is quite deep, reflecting the identity and self-perception of the tattooed.
  7. Experiencing pain. There is a version that as a result of experiencing pain when applying tattoos, endorphins are released. In theory, you can get hooked on this. But cutting yourself from this point of view would be much easier.
These are just some of the reasons why you might want to keep getting tattoos. If you asked a question about yourself, then it seems to me that you can only answer yourself. What do you like best? Planning a tattoo? The process of work itself and your condition in the process? The resulting drawings? Is your tattoo artist and contact with him? Reaction to your tattoos? How do they reflect your changes that you sometimes want to commit and hold?
