Match TV was forced to implement a strategy for a long time, which was dictated by political, not economic motives. After the lack of alternative to Match TV as a provider of sports TV content ceased to exist (Okko's arrival on the market from the Premier League, Yandex.Ether from the NHL and the FNL, Eurosport left tennis behind), the channel was not ready for competition. This was reflected in both a noticeably reduced audience and the departure of a number of key employees from the channel.
First of all, Match TV lost in the struggle for the online market, because it did not work on the product (again, because it felt like an uncontested monopoly). The final nail for Match TV will be the loss of rights to show RPL games - which can happen in the next year or two.
