Acceptable websites at Rave The Web Directory.

Rave The Web Directory looks for quality websites containing original content, services or products.

Which types of websites which will not be added to the directory?

 

Websites offering pharmaceuticals or other controlled substances. 

  • Exceptions will be made for businesses which have a physical brick and mortar location such as Rite Aid.

Affiliate websites

  • Websites that have excessive affiliate links to products for the purpose of deriving affiliate sales with the websites content primarily provided by the affiliated site are not acceptable.  Exceptions to this would be if our editor considers the site to be a valuable resource on the topic with a minimum of 70 percent original content.

Sub-Domains

  • A Sub-Domain or Sub-URL is a page that pertains to the primary topic of the websites main page.  Sub-domains will in general not be listed separately from the main page however exceptions in certain situations may apply.  If a Sub-domain is suggested and an exception is not granted the editor reserves the right to modify the listing to the websites main page as appropriate.
  • Sub-domains should not be used if the sub domain can be reached from the main page and contains substantially related content.

Websites which promote violence or contain hate, pornographic or illegal content.

  • Websites which are not pornographic in nature but contain adult nudity may still be considered acceptable.  Websites with content that is intended to cause arousal will not be listed however websites which contain adult nudity for medical or educational purposes are allowed.  An example of an acceptable website would be instructions on how to perform a breast exam. 
  • Any website that promotes violence or hate against others will not be accepted.  This includes websites which link to objectionable material through banners or text links.  Rave The Web reserves all rights to determine the acceptability of any suggested website.
  • This includes websites which may cause harm to minors, may infringe upon the rights of others or contain content which is generally thought to be objectionable in society.

Websites offering gambling, betting or online casinos.

  • Websites for brick and mortar establishments such as the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino are acceptable.  Informational or instructional gaming websites are acceptable providing their content is unique and valuable to visitors. Sites which facilitate gambling or advertise sites that do will be subject to normal editorial guidelines and discretion.

Additional General Directory Guidelines

  • Websites are only permitted one listing per domain in the directory though our editorial board may make exceptions on a case by case basis.
  • Websites should be submitted to the most appropriate category.  If you feel the most appropriate category is not available you may use our suggest category feature and our editorial board will review your request.
  • A good title - A good title will contain the official business or site name.  If needed to help visitors understand the site it may be followed by two or three words of descriptive anchor text.  Example Rave the Web : Internet Resources.  However, excessive keyword spam or keyword stuffing is not permitted.
  • A good description - Should consist of one or two informative, objective sentences which conveys to the visitor what your business or service has to offer / what the website contains.  Descriptions which are keyword stuffed or overly promotional may be declined or edited during the review process.
  • It is important for indexing to have descriptions which are unique.  Descriptions are checked during the review process for duplicated content and modifications are made as needed.

Rave The Web reserves all editorial rights and may move or modify any listing or article at any time and in its sole discretion modify, add to or remove any part of the Terms of Use agreement at any time without notice.  Websites which no longer comply with our guidelines may be removed from public view without notice.

 

Editorial Guidelines for Rave the Web articles

 

First Rule for Rave the Web article submissions – It must be unique.  The article you submit MUST BE ORIGINAL.  You must be the author or have the exclusive license.  If you are submitting for someone else the submission information must be that of the original author.

  • Articles should share expertise and be informative.  This includes articles on strategies, tips, opinion, analysis, commentary, techniques and case studies.  Do not quote excessive source material in your articles – more than 5 lines.
  • Articles should use proper English grammar, spelling, punctuation etc.  We suggest your article be proofed by a native English writer especially if English is your second language prior to submitting your articles.
  • Do not submit articles you have submitted or published anywhere else or plan to submit or publish anywhere else.  We will check through copyscape, search engines and other means. 
  • Do not submit the same article more than one time to Rave the Web Directory.  We do not want more than one copy of any article on our site.
  • Do not submit purchased articles (PLR), articles you ripped off or public domain articles.
  • Do not submit press releases, over hyped promotional copy, sales letters or advertisements.
  • Articles must not contain content related to hate, racial intolerance, promote violence, pornography / adult content, profanity, be degrading, obscene or be intolerant of any group.
  • Do not submit articles which promote essay or term paper sales, PLR articles, click fraud, email spamming or safe lists, made for adsense sites, alcohol, tobacco, prescription drugs or auto-surfing.
  • Do not submit articles which contain information on creating bombs, any type of weapon, illicit drug use or support terrorism or radicalism.
  • Articles can’t contain content which infringes upon the rights of others, violates any law or could be considered defamatory or libelous.
  • Do not submit articles which include a personal email, correspondence, uses excessive keywords or bolding,
  • Do not resubmit an article which has been previously submitted even if you have changed a few words in the body.  These actions can result in a ban.  Each article must be unique. 

The article title

  • Capitalize the first letter of each major word.  Do not use all upper case letters and do not stuff the title with keywords.
  • Do not use links, urls, quotation marks, author name, slang, profanity, prescription drug names or excessive punctuation in the title.

Author Name

  • Your first and last names are required to recognize the author of the article.  No titles or company names and only one membership allowed per person.

Body of Article

  • The minimum character length is 1,250 and the maximum 50,000 the ideal length for us is between 2,000 characters (400 words) and 3,750 characters (750 words).
  • Do not repeat article title or author information in the article body.  If you include copyrights or reprint rights they must be at the bottom of the article body.  If you include a reprint rights statement which violates our Terms of Service we will decline your article.
  • Do not self promote yourself in a blatant manner in the article body or use any sort of hard sell.  You can promote yourself in the resource box or your membership information.
  • The body of your article must deliver on the topic promised by the title and the reader should not have to visit other sites to receive the promise of the article or its title.
  • Be careful in your use of html tags.  If we receive your article poorly formatted it will most likely be declined.  Remove any excess vertical spacing at the end of your article body.
  • Articles must be single spaced except for paragraph breaks and formatted properly for ease of reading.

Links and URLS

  • You may have one active or inactive link/url in the article body that is NOT self servicing so long as it adds value to the article and has no more than three words anchor text.  In other words to a site that you do not own, control or have any interest in to include as an affiliate.  That link can’t be in the first three paragraphs.  Articles violating this policy will be declined.
  • You may have two links that are self serving located in the labeled places located in the additional box.  These may be to a website that you do own, have an interest in or control.  Confine your self-serving links to the boxes labeled first resource and second resource only with no more than four words for anchor text.
  • Look at your article in this manner.  The body is the part where you give value to the reader.  The first resource, second resource and about the author areas are to tell about yourself or self promote..
  • Do not use html to add any style type attributes to your url, anchor text or link.  Invalid links will not be accepted.
  • You may not link to any downloadable file of any kind.
  • We do not allow links to any site participating in questionable seo practices, banned by Google or that would not be allowed listing in Rave the Web Directory.  This will result in your articles being rejected.
  • Do not use the same active link more than once in articles you submit.  Do not use mailto links.
  • Do not place links in the About the Author box.  Your self-serving links go in the boxes labeled first resource and second resource.

General

  • Any pictures used must be uploaded in the box labeled “Upload Picture(s) For Your Article:” and must be reduced to their smallest file size prior to upload.  Files which are too large will be deleted.
  • You must hold the rights for any images you use and any violations of this will result in rejection / deletion of your articles and your account banned.
  • Images must add to the article and be appropriate for the content or they can be deleted.
  • Please choose the most appropriate category for your article.  We reserve the right to move your article to comply or decline the article.
  • Affiliate links may be allowed if the url submitted is a top level domain that you own.  That top level domain can then forward or redirect to the affiliate link.  A sub-domain which forwards to an affiliate link will be rejected.  An example of a top level url which is acceptable is http://your-link-here.com.  An unacceptable url would be http://your-link-here.com/subdomin/ - Any site being linked to in this manner must also meet the minimum standards for inclusion for Rave the Web Directory or the article will be declined.

Article Author Terms of Service – Rave the Web Directory

Authors acknowledge that by submitting your article(s) here;

  • You are the author, sole owner and copyright holder of the article(s) you submit.
  • By submitting your article you give us unconditional permission to publish your submitted articles on the website, feature it and distribute it via any method.
  • You give us unconditional permission and allow for submitted articles to be reprinted through any medium.  We ask publishers to adhere to our reprint rules, but any violation of those rules by publishers is a risk assumed by submitters.  If your copyright is violated by another party it is solely your responsibility to take any legal action to enforce the copyright and you assume any costs involved.
  • Rave the Web reserves all editorial rights to move your article to a more appropriate category than where it was originally submitted.
  • Rave the Web makes all decisions what to publish and how long to publish with no guarantees. Reserving all rights to remove any article or deactivate any account for any reason without prior notification.
  • Rave the Web reserves all rights to publish ads should we so choose, including on article pages should we so choose.
  • Rave the Web editors reserve the right to edit submitted articles to conform to submission standards should they so choose. To ensure timely acceptance please ensure any submitted articles adhere to posted guidelines.
  • Articles with direct affiliate links are a violation of our submission guidelines and will be rejected.  Redirecting to an affiliate link from the top level of a domain name which you own is permissible. For example http://your-domain-name.com is permissible while http://your-domain-name.com/subdomain/ and http://your-domain-name.com/page.html are not permitted.
  • You agree not to purchase traffic or otherwise inflate your traffic stats in any way.  Accounts may be terminated for violating this rule.
  • All parties understand and acknowledge that submitters are not paid in any way either from our directory or from subsequent publishers.

Article Publishers Terms of Service – Rave the Web Directory

In order to reprint or publish an article published on our site anywhere, publishers must:

  • Respect all copyrights by keeping the article intact without changes – published as is without any changes to title or content in any way.
  • Retain the complete resource box and any resource links found at the bottom of articles without any changes to syntax and keeping any links active.
  • Publishers agree to include credit for the article source with each article reprinted.  As demonstrated below with the link active.

  • Publishers agree not to place any Rave the Web articles on any site which contains illegal content, promotes hatred – profanity, bigotry or racism, or promotes any unlawful activity or is generally considered to be objectionable in society.
  • Publishers agree to never resell an article found on Rave the Web, never to send via unsolicited emails or spam in any way, never to charge visitors to your site to view a reprinted article, never to use the rel=nofollow tag in the href code.
  • Publishers agree not to convert any articles for use to any other format including video or audio nor create derivative work from the same content.  Nor will publishers add additional links to content reprinted or republished from Rave the Web.
  • Publishers understand that using content from Rave the Web is completely and solely at your own risk and agree not to reprint more than 25 articles per calendar year.
  • Rave the Web has been given permission from the author to publish all articles on the site.  So long as publishers comply with all terms listed no additional permission is needed from the author to republish.
  • Rave the Web retains revocation rights for reprinting content found here which may be exercised at any time.  Notification of revocation may be given in any manner convenient to Rave the Web at which time you will have 24 hours to remove any requested content reprinted from Rave the Web.  Upon removal you agree to provide written confirmation to Rave the Web of compliance.
  • Any publisher who violates any of the terms of service agrees to be held solely liable for legal fees and damages awarded in any lawsuit brought against you.

General information

  • Rave the Web retains all rights to add to, modify in any manner or remove any part of our terms of use at any time and without notice.
  • Rave the Web or any connected entity assumes no legal responsibility or liability for any information, content or product discussed on this site.
