About Acne and its Diet Restrictions

The most important factor that you need to note first is that Acne is not limited to teen years. Even adults, especially pregnant women, can get afflicted with it.  So what exactly is Acne? What kind of treatment is possible for Acne among teenage boys and girls and also adults?

Well, Acne is an inflammatory skin disease involving the sebaceous glands of the skin. This disease is characterized by papules or pustules. Papules are a small inflamed elevation of skin that is non-suppurative as in chicken pox. And pustules refer to small inflamed elevation of skin containing pus or a blister filled with pus.

Not let us go a step further. As mentioned, Acne mostly affects young boys and girls during puberty. During this time, the sebaceous glands show enlargement and they produce some oil. This oil allows your skin to be clean and smooth. As a natural process, this oil slowly goes out of the pores in your skin. However, when this oil remains in the pores for long period, dust and dirt start gathering at these spots. This creates blackheads on your face.

Sometimes, these pores bring redness on your face and you irritation in your eyes and nose. These are usually called pimples that lead to Acne or even what is called Rosacea acne.

What kind of treatment is possible for acne? The first step you can take is to contact a dermatologist. The skin specialist will identify the seriousness of Acne in your specific case and provide the necessary treatment. The dermatologist will prescribe the specific medication. Do not deviate from the taking the prescribed medicines on the right time as it can aggravate the skin problem.

At the same time the doctor will ask you to follow some diet restrictions. For your benefit, here are some guidelines about the diet when you suffer from acne:

1.    Increase the intake of fresh and green vegetables in your food. It will provide you with iron and calcium to fight Acne.
2.    Decrease the intake of coffee if you are taking it.
3.    Do not consume consuming spicy food items. It can aggravate the Acne on your facial skin.
4.    Stop all drinks that contain alcoholic ingredients.
5.    Take more fruits such as oranges, cherries, blueberries, strawberries and grapes.

Finally, avoid moving out into the open during the day and ensure that sunrays do not enter your facial skin. More often, like the teenage boys and girls, adults go out without realizing that overexposure to skin can aggravate their already existing problems.
